Toronto Public Library preserves and promotes universal access to a broad range of human knowledge, experience, information and ideas in a welcoming and supportive environment. New technologies extend access to global information beyond library walls. The objective of redesigning the logo is to modernize the institution, creating an innovative and contemporary experience for the public.

The goal to the new logo is to bring a positive and energetic vibes to the institution. The symbol can be seen as “TPL”, short form of the institution, and also has its own presentation individually. The “T” is transform to a person that brings a lively spirit to the institution. The “P” is a speech bubble, representing library is a place that brings communication. The “L” as a exclamation mark, which represent action and attention. Below are sample pages from the corporate identity manual.
